In some parts of the world the incidence of heart disease is falling because people are changing their lifestyles. What changes can you make to reduce the risk?.
Are you a good candidate for a heart attack or not. There are all sorts of causes of heart attacks but when it comes to identifying one main cause of heart disease, there are no simple answers. There are a variety of factors that can create a situation where cardiovascular problems of one type or another can develop. In this article I want to discuss some examples of activities and conditions that can lead to the development of cardiac problems in both men and women.
In recent years lifestyles have changed drastically and the way we run our lives ius vastly different than the way our parents or grand parents ran theirs. Today’s lifestyle has gone a long way to increase the risk of cardiovascular problems occurring. Inn fact the way we conduct our lives is a big factor in with whether or not we put ourselves at risk for cardiovascular problems
Individually we all tend to eat more often and in a greater quantity than our forbears. As a result, society in general has become increasingly overweight at an alarming rate. Each year, a greater percentage of the population is classed as obese. Obesity can not only trigger off diseases such as diabetes but obesity will greatly increase the strain on the heart's ability to work, as well as raise cholesterol levels. The chances are that an obsess person will be far more likely to have some form of cardio health problems than an individual who is nearer the ideal weight for his or her frame and gender.
Another big factor in increasing the risk of cardiovascular problems is smoking. The decision to use tobacco, especially by smoking cigarettes, is a common contributor to cardiovascular sickness, as well as lung cancer and other respiratory ailments. The chemical compounds found in cigarettes only increase the risk, by damaging arterial walls. The effects of smoking on the lungs can also put a further strain on the heart. This damage prevents the normal flow of blood through the body, making it harder for the blood to go through its normal cleansing process. This entire backup also forces the heart to work harder, which will eventually lead to permanent damage.
Gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins, and the problem these days is two fold. Firstly we tend to eat the wrongs foods. Diets that are high in cholesterol, processed sugars, salt, and red meats can create conditions where we are not only gaining weight, but also lining the arterial walls with extra cholesterol deposits that impact the flow of blood. Not only are we eating the wrong food we are eating too much food. Rather than have set meals, Breakfast, lunch and dinner many people tend to graze and snack throughout the day. Along with eating too much, we also have a habit of eating the wrong things. We can decrease the danger from our diet by simply decreasing the amount of red meat, increase the intake of fruits, vegetables, fish and other lean meats.
As a nation we also tend to drink too much alcohol, which not only adds to our daily calories intake but can also place further strains on our bodies. While some experts maintain that moderate amounts of alcohol, especially red wine can be beneficial for you the rule as for most things in life is moderation.
Stress and a lack of exercise often go together and can be major causes of heart problems. . Stress often leads to prolonged periods of inactivity and this compounds the body’s problems. Ideally everyone should try and ensure that they take at least 30 minutes of exercise most days. This does not have to be particularly taxing, just 30 minutes walking, cycling or swimming at least 5 times a week will be sufficient. Long periods of stress put extra pressure on the entire body’s ability to perform. Exercise not only helps to balance out the demand on our hearts, but also helps to release endorphins into our bloodstream, which help us to deal with stress more effectively.
Obviously the causes of cardiac illness are many and varied. In any case, in order to be healthy, live a long life, each person needs to be aware of what he or she should be doing to take care of the heart. The cause of heart disease can be dramatically reduced by eating properly, getting regular exercise, minimizing stress and avoiding tobacco altogether.
